  5. _Introduction_

  7. TF Stats is a freeware application meant for use by TeleFinder Sysops.  It will parse the call_stats and file_transfer_stats files and create a tab-delimited text file of summary statistics, suitable for import into your favorite spreadsheet.  TF Stats requires System 7.

  9. _Installation Directions_

  11. Launch TF Stats and select "Node Names…" in the Options Menu.  Enter the names of your Node Servers.  The names need to exactly match those found in the call_stats and file_transfer_stats files.  Use a text editor and copy/paste for best results.

Now you are ready to operate.  Presumably you will have a whole bunch of call_stats and file_transfer_stats files, broken down by some time period, in chronological order.  Keep in mind that each set of call_stats/file_transfer_stats much match each other's start/end date or else the download count will not be correct.

Launch TF Stats and select "Parse Stat Files…" under the File Menu.  You will be prompted to select a call_stats file and then a file_transfer_stats file.  Then enter the name of your output file.  Don't worry about replacing an existing output file; new entries will be appended onto the end.  The hard disk will spin for a few moments and then write your output file.

  19. You can repeat the above procedure for each set of call_stats and file_transfer_stats that you have on hand.  The new statistics will be appended onto the existing report file.

  21. The output file will consist of an entry for each day listed in the call_stats and file_transfer_stats files, as well as a summary of the totals for the files scanned.

  23. Now you have a nice, Tab-delimited text file suitable for import into your favorite spreadsheet or graphing program.

  25. _Cautions and Limitations_

TF Stats is set at a 200K MultiFinder partition.  This is sufficient to scan approximately a months worth of entries (the "Garbage Collection" phase of scanning is where the maximum amount of memory is used).  If you want to scan a call_stats file that extends for more than a month, you must scale the memory accordingly.

  29. TF Stats only works on TeleFinder systems with a maximum of 16 lines.
